At Barterhouse Ybor
At Barterhouse Ybor, we believe in the simple act of hospitality. To us, that means a passion for food and drink that influences guests to eat, sip, and experience outside of what’s commonplace.
Always fascinated by launching hospitality venues that transform less sought-after areas into high traffic meccas has driven the path to Tampa since day one. Exceptional food and cocktails have revolutionized many cities like Charleston, Detroit and New York. Kenneth Emery, concept creator, infuses his youth at Detroit’s famous Eastern Market, relationships formed building concepts in Charleston SC, and Tampa’s unique culture for a one of a kind hospitality venue. Today, the team behind Barterhouse could not be more excited to infuse more culinary energy into Historic Ybor City and the Tampa food and cocktail scene.
Barterhouse is a passion project built by a community for a community following years of farm dinners and pop ups throughout the southeast. “Having a concept in mind and finding a suitable location to execute it in is not what we do,” says Emery. “It’s the space that tells you what to do. And, no two spaces are alike.” This perfectly imperfect nostalgic space was created to stunning congruence with Ybor and its honest food and cocktails.
Upon entering the restaurant, you’ll experience a hand-curated collection of new and preserved expressions. A grand bar accented with white and gold marble, sitting beneath original warehouse windows and trusses. Touches of local Tampa steel mixed with soft, familiar textures. An open Chef’s kitchen that sends a warm glow throughout the space, adding depth and truth to the raw, artistic interior. It’s an atmosphere designed to create a sense of belonging... and a warm departure from the notoriously rowdy district. If you’re a local, you know what we mean. Barterhouse is all about quality, craft, food, and cocktails.
You’ll find the fare at Barterhouse to be an honest homage to the local farmers market. It graciously speaks to an enriched way of life prior to planes, trains and automobiles. The cocktail menu is equally as committed to the swanky traditions that once-ignited iconic 1940’s bars. All brought to life through details that capture the rich history of Ybor City.
Our wish is for the memories made at Barterhouse to foster a sense of hospitality, community, and curiosity about where the best ingredients come from. The best ingredients and food do great things for the entire community, well beyond any one link in the chain.
